Better Than Wax and Feathers
NaPoWrMo Day 18 - Express the desire to be someone or something else.
I want to become a dandelion seedling that commands the telekinetic nature of spring-fare squalls and spark inside of a peacock, a light up next to the sun and free from a zoo's confines, emerald envy at how masterfully I nourish wind between the silver tendrils from my core and scale the sky even higher than itself to make that blinding star writhe and stir in its nerves—enough discomfort to sweat —after succeeding where a waxed winged fool failed, and soon to be discount phoenix.
Well done, Daniel - When do you figure Icarus knew he was doomed to fail?
“…emerald/envy at how masterfully I nourish wind/between the silver tendrils from my core”—what a way with words! Your poem leaves so much to interpret, hides so much meaning within the lines. I can admit I don’t understand all of it, but of what I can, it’s just beautiful work.
